How can I pay offline?

We can take payment via Zelle, PayPal or by check (for reservations 60+ days out). Once you have booked, you'll receive several follow up emails with more information about how to pay using these three methods. We do not have Venmo at this time. 

How can I see which rentals are available for my specific dates?

Easy! Scroll down to the calendar on the home page (or click here), and click on "All Units" in the top right corner. Select the property you're interested in and that rental's availability calendar will pop up. You can also plug your dates into the booking link on the home page and all available properties for those dates will show up. Click here to see availability.

Are pets allowed?

Yes! We charge a one-time $150/pet fee with a limit of 2 pets per reservation. We kindly ask that you not allow the pets in the bedrooms or on the furniture at any time during your stay. We ask this so that we can accommodate any future guests with allergies by limiting their exposure to any dander. However, we are pet-friendly , so if you do have allergies, please let us know so that we can schedule an extra deep clean before your visit to help you out!

Can I have friends over?

Absolutely! But please make sure that if you are having more than 2 non-registered guests over at a time, you inform the host to get permission. These are non-party locations, so no hosting gigs, dinner parties or events, please. Please no unregistered overnight guests without notifying us of their name and contact info. In the event of theft or vandalism, we don't want you solely responsible for the financial reimbursement.

Do you have quiet hours?

Quiet hours are enforced from 10 PM to 8 AM every night. The host will will issue one warning followed by a steep fine. Inability to adhere to the rules after this will result in an immediate cancellation of the reservation with no refunds.

How do I get the key and check-in instructions?

You will receive an automated email sometime in the 24 hours before check-in with instructions for check-in. We have lockboxes with physical keys for entry. This code will be provided in that email. For security reasons, we will not provide the code more than 24 hours in advance of check-in, and any outstanding payments must be paid in full before we can provide the code.

Do you have off-street parking?

Yes, all of our properties have ONE off-street parking spot reserved for each apartment. Guests are responsible to find their own off-property parking for any additional vehicles. On-street parking is allowed free of charge from 8 PM to 8 AM Monday-Friday and all day on the weekends. Additional information about parking in the City of Charleston can be found here.

What's included in the price?

Our nightly pricing includes the cost of the actual dates plus all kitchen essentials, linens, furnishings, decor, parking, utilities, wifi, tv subscriptions. We also charge a cleaning fee that covers the cost of cleaning both before and after your visit. In addition to these fees, you'll pay a small accommodations tax.

Do you offer discounted pricing?

Pricing is already guaranteed to be lower on our website than through third-party sites like Airbnb and VRBO. If you have questions about the total, please reach out to us before booking for clarification. We are not able to adjust your pricing once you have booked. We take payment via cash to keep our prices low, but we are able to take payment via PayPal and/or credit card for an additional 3.5% transaction fee.

What if I want to rent for less than 30 days?

You are always welcome look at our other website www.SpringStreetRentals.com to book one of our permitted Short Term Rentals. Our properties at ChucktownApts are required by law to rent for no less than 30 nights at a time. We are happy to discuss with you before booking!

What is the neighborhood like?

As listed in our description, the neighborhood is up-and-coming and undergoing gentrification. What does that mean for you? Absolutely nothing. We celebrate the fact that we live in a diverse area with all different backgrounds, ages and ethnicities. It has come a LONG way in the past 5-10 years and is continuing to be a great residential area on the peninsula! While this is still a city, and we always caution our guests to use common sense no matter where they stay in Charleston, we have never had a safety issue in the fifteen years of operating on this street. We love our neighbors, and we hope you will too! We do encourage our guests to research the neighborhood, however, and make sure you are comfortable staying here before you book as we do not offer refunds anytime 48 hours after booking. We are located on a better part of America St near Trident Technical College and the Cigar Factory, not the higher-crime portion of America Street which is about half a mile south of us.

Do you offer payment plans?

Yes we do! Our payment options are as follows:

Reservations of 30-90 nights - a down payment of 25% is due to hold the dates, and payment in full is due 48 hours after booking. Guests can cancel anytime in that 48 hours for a full refund minus any transaction fees if they pay with a credit card. Payment in cash via Zelle or PayPal Friends and Family or check will be refunded in full.

Reservations of 90+ nights - a down payment of 25% is due to hold the dates, and 50% of the total is due 48 hours after booking (if start date is within 30 days of booking) or 30 days before check-in. Guests can cancel anytime in that 48 hours for a full refund minus any transaction fees if they pay with a credit card. Payment in cash via Zelle or PayPal Friends and Family or check will be refunded in full. The remaining 50% balance will be split into two 25% payments due after 30 and 60 days respectively after the initial 50% payment. If you are booking less than 60 days in advance, your total balance is due before arrival. Guests are responsible to pay in full for any dates booked with us, regardless of whether they complete their stay or not.

What is your cancellation policy?

If Guest wishes to cancel his/her reservation, the total due will be refunded as follows:

- 14+ Days:  We provide a 48 hour grace period in which a guest may cancel their reservation after booking provided the reservation is made within 14  days of check-in. No refunds will be given for any cancellations after this 48 hour period.

-  7-14 Days:  Reservations made less than 14 days of check-in will receive a 50% refund with cancellation within 48 hours of booking.

-  Less Than 7 Days:  Reservations made within 7 days of check-in will have a 2-hour cancellation window, after which there will be no refund.  Guest is responsible to obtain travel insurance.

In the unfortunate event you should have to cancel your booking before your arrival, both the Cleaning Fee and Security Deposit (Trip Insurance is non-refundable) are refundable. Please be aware that the rental fees paid are non-refundable. We recommend that you consider purchasing Travel Insurance.

I'm not sure how long I need the property for - what should I do?

We highly recommend that you only book the dates you know you need as once you've booked you are responsible for all payments. We are happy to work with you regarding payment plans and due dates, but we will not block off the calendar for dates that have not been paid for. Guests must pay in full for any dates booked with us, regardless of whether or not they complete their stay. Failure to adhere to these rules may result in legal action, so please talk to us first before booking if you are unsure of your total time needed.

I checked in and some cleaning items or amenities were overlooked - what should I do?

We make every reasonable effort to make sure that all of our units are cleaned immaculately and inspected before arrival. In the event that something was overlooked, Guests can contact us within 2 hours of check in with photos of the problem areas and we will send the cleaners back to make sure it's made right. We do not offer refunds for cleaning issues, wear and tear of the property or problems with additional amenities such as the wifi, games, tvs, etc. We highly recommend that you read through the Policies here if you have any questions about specifics.

If I cancel before my arrival do I get any money back?

Yes! If you need to cancel before your arrival, you will receive your security deposit and cleaning fee back. Please see the cancellation policy above for more details.
